About Bayan Gardens School

Bayan Gardens School is a college preparatory K-12 private international school with a student body of over 300 students and 100 faculty members.

The school opened in the fall of 1999 and its first senior class graduated in the spring of 2012. Students continue to be accepted in excellent universities and colleges worldwide.

 

Bayan Gardens School is accredited by Cognia (USA) for the American Diploma Program and the STEM Program. BGS is licensed by the Saudi Ministry of Education.

The goal of Bayan Gardens School (BGS) is to achieve excellence in education without compromising the basic skills and values of life.

Community

Located in the Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Al-Khobar is a thriving commercial and industrial center. The main industry is oil and energy. Parents of students are employed in medical, business, banking, education, IT and engineering fields. Over 90% of the parents have a college degree. The majority of the student body is primarily Saudi nationals.

Boys are enrolled from Pre-School to Grade 6 and girls are from Pre-School to Grade 12. Plans are in place to add a grade each year for the boys to reach Grade12.

Accre​ditation and Certification

BGS is accredited by Cognia (USA) for the American Diploma Program and STEM Certification, it is also licensed by the Saudi Ministry of Education.

BGS has a unique dual Arabic and English curriculum, which follows the American Diploma Program with full STEM/STEAM integration.

Curriculum

Elementary School 

Elementary core curriculum consists of English Language Arts, Math, Science, Information Technology, Arabic Literature, Islamic Studies and Social Studies.

 

In addition to the core academic subjects, students engage in project-based learning in the Innovation Hub and STEAM Lab.

Visual Art, Photography, Drama, Music, Library and Physical Education (with Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball, Paddelball, Zumba, Aerobics) are also included during the instructional day.

Middle and High
School (MHS)

BGS Middle and High school (MHS) offers 2 programs: a Regular Grade-level Program and an Honors accelerated program through the Math and Science Academy (MSA).

All High School students from Grades 9-12 are required to take college preparatory classes and electives.

Students engage in project based learning STEM Program.

BGS also has a college dual enrollment program, with college level courses through world renowned universities.

MHS core curriculum consists of English Language Arts, Math (Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics), Science (Integrated Science, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology, Gateway to Engineering, Civil and Architectural Engineering, Principles of Engineering), Economics and Personal Finance and Information Technology.

Math and Science Academy

BGS Math and Science Academy offers an accelerated honors-level program which engages students in design thinking and project based learning. The requirements to be accepted in the MSA program are: 87% or higher in each subject, outstanding social skills and recommendation letters from faculty members. BGS also offers various dual enrollment/pre-college courses with world renowned/ivy league universities.

Calendar

BGS school year begins in late August and ends in June. Students attend school 180 days, divided between 4 quarters and 2 semesters. Classes are 45 minutes duration and meet 5 times a week Sunday to Thursday.

Extra - Curricular

Students participate in various conferences, workshops, national/international competitions and internships/residency programs. Some examples of special academic events held throughout the year include: STEAM Exhibits, MIT Edgerton Workshops, Saudi MakerSpace Exhibit and Conference, School MakerFaire, Mass STEM Week Challenge, Math Challenge, Entrepreneurship Events, Global Peace Awareness, Breast Cancer Awareness, Earth Appreciation Day, Sports Events, Music Concerts and Fusion Event.

Innovation Hub

BGS offers STEAM related activities and a variety of other activities ranging from Robotics, Laser Cutting, Arduino projects, Fashion Technology, Woodworking, Soldering, BGS SPEAKS, Podcasts, Internships and Residencies.

Grade Point Average (GPA)

All courses are included in a student’s grade point average. A student’s overall GPA is a cumulative average.

Grade Point System

The GPA is calculated, both Weighted and Unweighted. An additional 1 grade point is added for honors and advanced courses.

BGS does not rank students.
